Wei Shen has more than 20 years of comprehensive global marketing/branding and versatile business management expertise. Significant market launch experience in the world's top two markets - U.S. and China, e.g., launching Buick and Cadillac successfully for GM in China. One of the few Chinese American marketers with substantial business acumen and leadership experience in addition to a MBA degree from Kellogg of Northwestern University. Featured in GM 2005 Annual Report for her global Cadillac initiatives. Played a pivotal role in Hummer M&A transactions as its Vice President. Her integrity and reputation earned her the honor to host former U.S. Secretary of Commerce (now U.S. Ambassador to China), Gary Locke, at her home in 2011.

It is her great credentials, proven track record and especially her ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds that have enabled her to attain broad support from both countries, winning businesses from well-established companies. Her vast network of successful entrepreneurs, senior business executives and high ranking government officials from both the U.S. and China continues to grow, making her well poised to help facilitate cross-border M&A transactions, raise capital from diverse sources with access to Fortune 1,000 Chinese companies via China’s top trade organizations (CCPIT & CCOIC), and explore new market opportunities through her top-tier connections.

Instrumental in getting BridgeConnect LLC retained by China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) to facilitate various cross-border business transactions. Appointed as Senior Advisor to Geely-Volvo Group, working directly with its charismatic Chairman - China's richest person by Fortune 2011 and spearheaded initiatives to recruit Jeremy Lin as Volvo's new global brand ambassador. North American Chief Delegate for CAPAC - China's biggest automotive component conglomerate. Became the first CEO for a China-headquartered, fast growing automotive supplier to lead its North American operations. A change catalyst and self-starter dedicated to pursuing innovative solutions to complex issues. Articulate and assertive. Fluent in English & Chinese, A Shanghai native and U.S. Citizen.

 

Selected Accomplishments:

• Successfully helped U.S. client, Escort, connect with compatible top business leaders in China for significant export opportunity and business expansion in China.

• Secured more business for Swell in a few months since assuming its U.S. CEO position than it had achieved in the past 8 years through a rep office.

• Helped Volvo enhance its brand recognition by partnering with Jeremy Lin who was named by Time magazine as one of the "100 Most Influential People In the World" in 2012.

• Successfully led efforts in launching Buick and Cadillac in China by working with the local teams - propelling GM to the top position surpassing earlier entrants with market share leaping from less than 1% in late 1990s to more than 13% today.

• Played a pivotal role in the cross border M&A transaction negotiations as Hummer's vice President to help GM divest Hummer and market it to prospective Chinese buyers.

• Contributed to the Cadillac renaissance by playing a critical role in brand repositioning initiatives and by leading efforts in developing a Cadillac "Manifesto" - all attributable to the markedly improved Cadillac brand image and sales.

• Led preparations for the 2010 MY Cadillac SRX crossover launch, resulting in a 500% YOY sales gain.

• Received a special award from GM senior leadership for initiating innovative solutions to dramatically improve Cadillac's interior appeal and craftsmanship, resulting in a double digit gain in J.D. Power "Interior Appeal" rating.

 

Community Involvement:

• First Chinese American woman appointed to the prestigious Board of Directors at Detroit Symphony Orchestra

• Community correspondent for WKDB-CBS Sunday "Street Beat" TV program, interviewing many distinguished leaders in the local community.

• Executive Director for US-Sino Cultural Exchange, Chinese Association of Greater Detroit, the largest Chinese American organization in Michigan.
